ClearForge PDF Scanner Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Dr. Quiz Learning Center ("we", "our", or "us") handles information when you use ClearForge PDF Scanner ("the app"), our Android document scanner and PDF tools application published on Google Play (package: dev.drowl.app4). We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with Google Play policies and applicable data protection laws.
1. Information We Collect
ClearForge PDF Scanner does not collect, store, or transmit your personal information or document content to our servers. Documents you scan, import, merge, split, compress, or edit are processed and stored locally on your device in the app's private storage. Document metadata (names, page counts, OCR text results, and timestamps) is stored only on your device. We do not require an account, and we do not access your contacts, calendar, or location.
When you use optional features, the app accesses data only as needed:
- Camera: To capture document scans with edge detection.
- Photos/Gallery: To import images for PDF conversion when you choose that option.
- File picker: To import, merge, split, or compress PDF files you select.
2. On-Device Processing
Optical character recognition (OCR) is performed on your device using Google ML Kit. Scan filters, PDF merging, splitting, compression, and signature placement are processed locally. Your document content is not uploaded to our servers for these features.
3. Third-Party Advertising (Google AdMob)
ClearForge PDF Scanner displays advertisements through Google AdMob, a service provided by Google LLC. Ad formats may include banner ads shown at the bottom of the screen. AdMob may automatically collect certain information to serve and measure ads, which may include:
- Device identifiers (such as Advertising ID)
- IP address
- Device type, operating system version, and language
- Ad interaction and impression data
This data is collected and processed by Google in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy and the AdMob & Firebase Privacy Policy.
You can opt out of personalized advertising on Android by going to Settings → Google → Ads and enabling "Opt out of Ads Personalization," or by resetting your Advertising ID.
4. Permissions
ClearForge PDF Scanner requests the following Android permissions:
- Camera — To scan documents with automatic edge detection.
- Photos/Media — To import images from your gallery for PDF conversion.
- Internet — To display Google AdMob advertisements.
- Network state — Used by AdMob to optimize ad delivery.
- Advertising ID (AD_ID) — Used by AdMob for ad measurement as required by Google Play.
The app does not request access to your contacts, calendar, microphone, or location. Network access is also used when you choose to open external links (privacy policy, more apps, or Play Store share URL) from in-app menu items.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. Document content remains on your device unless you explicitly share it using the Android share sheet or open a file with another app. Advertising data is processed by Google according to their policies as described above.
6. Children's Privacy
ClearForge PDF Scanner is a general-purpose productivity app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through our app, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
Documents stored in the app's private directory remain on your device until you delete them within the app or uninstall the app. Uninstalling removes all locally stored documents and app preferences. We do not retain any user data on external servers. You can reset the in-app privacy consent from Settings → Reset consent.
8. Data Security
Because ClearForge PDF Scanner processes documents locally on your device, your files are not uploaded to our servers. We encourage you to keep your device software up to date and use device lock features to protect sensitive documents.
9. International Users
ClearForge PDF Scanner is available worldwide. If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or other regions with data protection laws, Google's processing of advertising data through AdMob is governed by Google's compliance programs and your device-level ad settings.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at this URL with an updated effective date. Continued use of ClearForge PDF Scanner after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
